Year End Giving

A visionary gift of $100,000 from the Robert F. and Eleonora W. McCabe Foundation will establish a permanent exhibit of the sculptures of Remington’s colleague and artistic collaborator, Sally James Farnham. The exhibit, on the museum’s 2nd floor, will be completed by the spring. The gift also created a permanent endowment for exhibitions, the Robert F. and Eleonora W. McCabe Fund, which has already received 2 gifts of $1,000.

We have hired a superb Museum Education Specialist, Laura Desmond, who is creating impressive, meaningful and mission-related programming for all ages. We have high-level adult lectures and art classes, and amazing new tour programming for school groups, and individualized tours for a wide spectrum of visitors. We will feature much deeper and varied museum experiences for all.

Thanks to a $100,000 allocation in the state budget from State Senator Patty Ritchie, and some significant private donations, we have undertaken urgently needed renovations to our climate control systems that will assure the preservation of our collection.

With an eye to sustainability, we have grown our Long-Term Investment Fund to $1,450,000. This fund, which includes our endowment, is overseen by the Frederic Remington Art Museum Foundation. We are working to grow this fund to $10,000,000 soon to help the museum fulfill its mission beyond our centennial in 2023.

We are looking forward to a bright 2018, which will include significant loans of Remington art to and from other museum collections, providing opportunities for building audiences nationally and bringing legendary Remington art to the museum to serve our visitors and our community.
