The art curriculum includes ways to view, talk and write about art by applying critical thinking skills, ways to design an artwork by applying the elements and principles of design, and the steps involving the creation of personal artworks in a variety of 2-D and 3-D media. Art lessons will encompass the guidelines set forth from New York State Learning Standards for the Visual Arts, National Art Education Association and the American Association of Museums guidelines for certification.

October: Weather depicted in Frederic Remington’s artworks

Science and art together.

November: Frederic Remington’s figures in Art

Human and animal figures

December: A study of Frederic Remington landscapes

Depiction of depth in artworks

Class Dates: beginning Thursday, September 17th from 10am to 12pm through Thursday, December 17th for a total of 13 weeks of focused Art lessons for the Fall semester.

Location: Remington Art Museum, 303 Washington St., Ogdensburg, NY 13669.

Ages: First through Sixth grade accompanied by a favorite adult.

Supplies: Students supply their own spiral bound 9x12 sketchbook.
